We’ve had some beautiful sunshine already this summer as well as some spectacular storms and much needed rain. Hopefully you have been able to enjoy a shady spot outside during the hot spells and found shelter when the grey clouds rolled over. Summer is a time to recharge your batteries – time off work, exploring a new environment and surroundings, enjoying the fruits of your labour, relaxing… It’s easy to start to feel hemmed in by everyday items and objects that somehow seem to collect in places all by themselves! A break away is refreshing and can help clear the mind but the old saying ‘change is as good as a rest’ holds some vital truths. Change your environment; whether home, garden or your work place, by having a declutter to give yourself a mini ‘holiday’. Why not do some extra good by donating good serviceable items to charity to help others in need. Another truth from an old saying ‘one man’s junk is another man’s treasure’.
It is also important to have a spiritual declutter:
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice” Ephesians 4:31
If we are to ‘reap what we sow’ it is vital to let go of the things that hinder us physically and spiritually. Sometimes it is a case of having a declutter of things that we no longer need. Other times it may be the need for forgiveness; for others as well as for ourselves.
Whether you are heading off on holiday or creating a change this summer, may God bless and refresh you.
Our groups are having a break during August but normal activities will resume in September with the preparations for harvest.
